Preventative Maintenance

I started working Monday as an intern at my dad's business. I worked there last summer, but it was a lot easier because all I did was file papers. However, this summer I am writing preventative maintenance. Basically I get to write the directions that keep people from making mistakes. I have to gather all of the experience knowledge of other employees and combine it into usable documentation. Sounds pretty rough... and sometimes it is.

Like always, I started thinking. Preventative Maintenance is something I need to think about in different aspects of my life, and not just at work. I should approach decisions with the attitude of "what do I need to do now to prevent a problem later?" Thinking long-term. Acting long-term. That's a pretty rare quality to posses at 16, but man, it could really change the future of my life.

So, I'm going to think down the road with everything. I'm going to do the small tedious things that keep me in working order. I'm going to say bless you when someone sneezes. I'm going to spend time thanking God for all He's blessed me with. I'm going to make sure I don't forget who I am. I'm going to do Preventative Maintenance on me.

You know you're bored when a 54 page instruction manual on how to take care of grease guns inspires you. But hey, at least I'm thinking about something...
