Earlier this week I was reading 1 Kings 20. Here's whats going on: so basically there's this bully/ king of Aram, Ben-Hadad. He sends a message to Ahab, king of Israel, threatening to take all his stuff. Ahab says, " yeah, sure. whatever." because he's the underdog in a pretty major way. But that bully guy Ben-Hadad isn't satisfied so he continues to threaten Ahab. When Ahab refuses to give in, there is a war.
During preparations, the Lord speaks to Ahab through a prophet saying that He is going to give Ben-Hadad's army into his hands, and that he, Ahab, will start the battle. The Lord is faithful, and Israel wins defying all odds. However, Ben-Hadad gets away. Now, Ben-Hadad and his bad-guy friends get together and start planning another battle against Israel. They say in 1 Kings 20:23 "Their gods are gods of the hills. That is why there were too strong for us. But if we fight them on the plains, surely we will be stronger than they."
In response to that the Lord tells Ahab in 20:28, "Because the Arameans think the Lord is a god of the hills and not a god of the valleys, I will deliver this vast army into your hands, and you will know that I am the Lord." HOW COOL IS THAT???!!! God's just like, "Let me show you how big I really am!!" He's not limited to hills or valleys. He's GOD.
Isn't it nice to know that the God we serve is God no matter where we are? No matter if we're having a mountain top experience or walking through the valley of the shadow of death, our God is God. right. there. He isn't limited by the size of our army, the amount of college credits we have, or how many years we've walked the earth. God is God. I believe that sometimes we find ourselves in the valleys of life because it's in those moments we learn that our God is not a god of the hills. I find peace knowing that I'm on His side. I wouldn't want it any other way.
So as a change of seasons approaches, I'm enjoying every moment and praising God for the circumstance I find myself in now. I know that hills or valleys, winter or summer, highs or lows, He is God. That's really good news. Maybe my mood doesn't have to be so dependent on the weather... Andddd that's a Word for Wednesday!!
PS: Unless I referenced, quoted, and highlighted a specific verse in Scripture, the quotes are just me being stupid. In case you couldn't tell. I thought I should clarify. This is just my interpretation. Take it with a grain of salt. k, thanks!!
