A Word for Wednesday... on Thursday haha

     So, obviously, I missed the window on the Word for Wednesday. That's kind of what I want to write about today: time and what you do with it.

      I am reluctant to own up to the fact that I am a pinterest addict. It's true! If it makes it any better, I have actually found some encouragement from it. A couple of weeks ago I saw this pin.

     hahaha! I don't know if you do this, but I know I do! Man, It's crazy! I can't tell you how many times I've said, "Oh, I'll do that later." or "I just don't have time." My favorite is "I'm just too busy right now. Maybe later." Part of it's true, I am really busy. BUT what am I busy with? Am I busy doing things that don't matter, things that aren't productive? In an attempt to de-clutter my life and be a little less stressed out, I'm trying to prioritize. We'll see how that goes.

     One day a couple years ago I was talking with one of my mentors about this very issue. (It seems to follow me.) I was talking about all the clubs I'm a part of, all the groups I lead, all the homework I have... She told me to live life with margin. Okay sure, but what's margin?

     Margin is the edges of my notebook paper that don't get used, the blank places. Margin is a specific area that is meant to be left open. Living my life with margin means leaving open space, on purpose. I've found that I'm the type of person who wants to do everything, go everywhere, be involved. That's great, but sometimes you have to say no. Margin doesn't happen on accident. You have to make it.

     This semester I dropped a class. I made some margin. Honestly, that was one of the best decisions I've made all semester. And guess what? Sometimes there are some beautiful things drawn in margins. When I leave my self room to doodle, it's amazing the things that pop up.

     I like to think that when I clear up my life, I clear a place for God. When I'm free to go with the flow, I can follow His flow. That's pretty cool. Look at that, Margin is just good for everybody! Who knew?! So my challenge to myself, and you may join me if you'd like, is to stop giving the lame excuses like "I don't have time"  and start living life with intentional margin. Adddd that's a Word for Wednesday on Thursday!!
